Old Homes.

How often have you watched a house hunting show where…

The buyer wants the quaint home, old charm, etc… then they are shocked that the old century+ home has no closets, small kitchen, no open-floor plan, tiny bedrooms, and needs work.  In most cases they end up often choosing a new home, since every feature they desire is on new homes.

The modernization of old homes, there is a point and problem to such work.

Update the plumbing, electrical, windows, sure.. that makes sense, more practical, safer, etc.

BUT.. take walls down to create an open modern floor plan, that kills half the character & charm.  The ultra-slick modern kitchens, the “must have” sparkly granite counters, they just lose so much of what makes an old home special.

Those are things that are heart breaking to see people do to a home. One, didn’t they “love” the character of the home? Then they opt to disassemble all the qualities that gave the home style and character.
